Why is Pork so Lucky?

Ok, can someone explain to me why in Islam you are forbidden to eat Pork? A muslim man can "discipline" his wife (I use the term discipline loosely), marry other women, marry his cousin but can't eat pork?

Woman can only be disciplined fro horrendous acts not if shes doesn't wash her husbands socks or something stupid like that. It is only there as a last resort, if she persistently refuses to be chaste etc.

Pork is the closest animal to a human being so much so that its heart can be used as a transplant. pork is filthy and causes diseases. The pig is a scavenger. It is an omnivorous animal. It eats everything. There are many diseases carried from swine to man, particularly parasite infestations. The number of patients suffering from tapeworm disease is the highest in the world among pork eating nations. Other diseases attributed to pigs are caused by tri-chinelia spirates and intestinal worms occupy first place among such nations too.

Dr. Glen Shepherd wrote the following on the dangers of eating pork in Washington Post (31 May 1952).

"One in six people in USA and Canada have germs in their muscles - trichinosis 8 from eating pork infected with trichina worms. Many people who are infected shows no symptoms. Most of those, who do have, recover slowly. Some die; some are reduced to permanent invalids. All were careless pork caters".

Jews also forbid pork

1) Can women discipline men in the same way? Shouldn't this law be for the both? What is the definition of "horrendous acts"? Is it the same everywhere across the globe? Are you sure? In other words, this is a very stupid and discriminatory law created to make women look inferior. To true Christians that would be considered "sinful"

2) This explanation of why Pork is bad for you medically is crap. Yes, we know it causes diseases but so will Lamb or Goat or Chicken if not processed carefully. You are quoting a Dr. who wrote this in 1952, medical science has improved a lot since then. Would you say the western world is quite paranoid when it comes to health and safety? if yes, don't you think if they thought even for a minute that eating pork is somehow detrimental to their, they would have banned it immediately? Look at the mad cow disease, US found one diseased cow and banned all beef exports from Canada, causing Canada a loss in billions.

You have to come up with a spiritual reason for this. Muhammad had no scientific background so when he banned pork he didn't do anything new. In his time Jews had this law already. Muslims are only following the Jewish or the Old Testament laws.

Pork has an adverse effect on the spirit and soul.

According to the bible woman are superior to men, stop calling yourselves chritians your just western-secularists that happened to believe that God is more than one.

Wrong again. What adverse effect does it have on the spirit and soul?

The Bible verses you keep referring to is the Old Testament. Christianity changed all that and Christians over time evolved from the archaic and irrelevant laws and practices that Islam still follows.

Christ made both men and women on a equal standing.

No Christian believes is more than one God, if they do then they are not Christians. Stop making assumptions based on your lack of understanding.

No Christian is allowed to discipline their spouse, if they do they do so of their own accord and not because they are Christian following the Bible.

Let's look at what God says about eating pork. In Genesis 9:3 God says "Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything." This is the first mention of man being allowed to eat meat, and God allows all meat. It was only under the Law of Moses that he restricted that for the Jews. The prohibition against eating pork was given specifically to the Jews and never applied to non-Jewish Christians. In general, pork is no more harmful to the body than most other meats if it is properly preserved and prepared.

In Matthew 15 Jesus says "10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. 11What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

Furthermore he explains ....

16 "Are you still so dull?" Jesus asked them. 17 "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "

Thus in Christianity there is no prohibition in eating Pork. Any Muslims that claims that Bible also prohibits eating of the pork is talking about the Jewish law that does not apply to Christians. As explained earlier that prior to Jews God had decreed that we can eat anything.

Also how would you interpret Acts Chapter 10?

9 About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray. 10 He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. 11 He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. 12 It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. 13 Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."

14 "Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."

15 The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
